I was approached to work on this project in the middle of 2007.  The idea behind DVLA Guide was to create a detailed guide to Great Britain’s Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. 

The project goals were to create a useful resource for drivers in Great Britian and serve targeted image and text ads within the content.  This was accomplished by using ExpressionEngine to create a scalable site framework that could easily accommodate the 400+ pages of content and dozens of different affiliate marketers.  The site also includes a custom blog and email sign-up campaign powered by AWeber.

Overall it was a great learning experience and gave me even more respect for the people that put together ExpressionEngine.

The Canadian Open Discgolf Championships needed a logo for their upcoming tournament.  They wanted something very strong and simple, that included “disc golf” and “Canada” as its theme.  It was also important that the logo could be easily printed on a wide variety of items (discs, shirts, bottles, etc.).

This logo was also used in the design of their new site.

Andreas Vilklund is a music producer and web designer.  He came to me for a logo that he could use to promote his music.

ModernShed is a local Ottawa area construction company.  They focus on building modern sheds, decks and fences since their belief is that an outdoor structure shouldn’t have to be ugly. 

It was important to them that the design of their site reflected their modern inspired work.

ShowCamp is a performance and arts school for kids in California.  Their old design was badly out of date and needed a face life for the 2008 summer term.  I provided them with an updated logo, splash page and content page.

The main focus of the site is their promo video, which is why I went with such a strong emphasis on the main page.  The sub content pages were designed with simplicity of navigation and reading in mind.

Lidalicious is a complete redesign that the client wanted to have a soft, feminine touch.  The other requirement was that the design provided lots of room for ads.  The finalized design included both a pink and aqua theme.

Scott Miller is an American filmmaker, best known for his documentaries on Anthrax testing on American military personnel.

He wanted a simple site that would be easy to navigate and provide a good backdrop for displaying is different movies.

Tigerflag is an online business that specializes in natural perfumes and beauty products.  They wanted this reflected in their logo.

Tail-f is a software company that provides solutions to network vendors.  They wanted their logo to have a similar look and feel to the large network and technology vendors.

Solufy developed and application called Akwire and required a set of icons for the interface.  They wanted these icons to match the default Windows XP style.

MyGermanCity is a tourist portal for people visiting Germany.  It provides an excellent resource for all things Germany and as such, required a design that would make it easy to navigate.  It was for this reason that a 2 tiered navigation was used, as well as colour coding the 4 different sections of the site.
